Problem / Challenge
As Connecting Stories grew, demand for our financial empowerment and personal development programmes outpaced our internal capacity. We needed a dedicated team to support operations, expand partnerships, and amplify our impact—without the resources to hire full-time staff. The challenge was clear: how do we scale sustainably while staying community-driven?
What We Did
On 20th January 2025, we launched the Connecting Stories Volunteer Network—bringing together 20 committed volunteers across diverse functions:
- Project Leads to drive programmes and events
- Business Consultants to support strategy, partnerships, and operations
- Marketing Specialists to strengthen our online presence and brand
- Support Staff to manage logistics and community engagement
We created clear roles, weekly touchpoints, and a collaborative environment rooted in shared purpose. Volunteers led key initiatives, organised community sessions, strengthened our operations, and opened doors to new opportunities.
Impact:
- Expanded our partnership pipeline with organisations across finance, tech, and social impact
- Increased operational capacity for events, workshops, and mentorship programmes
- Strengthened our digital communications and brand visibility
- Enabled Connecting Stories to serve more women and accelerate our 2025 strategic plan
Being a volunteer at Connecting Stories has allowed me to use my skills for something meaningful. I’ve seen firsthand how women’s lives change through this work.
Project Lead Volunteer
The structure, leadership, and purpose-driven culture made it easy to step in and make an impact. It’s rare to find a community this aligned.
