Problem / Challenge

Many individuals, especially women,  navigate financial decisions without fully understanding the mindset that drives those choices. Emotional spending, lack of budgeting discipline, and uncertainty around financial planning often stem from limited self-awareness and financial literacy. Recognising this gap, there was a growing need for a space where women could openly explore the beliefs and emotions shaping their relationship with money.

What We Did

Connecting Stories hosted Your Money Mindset, an in-person financial empowerment event designed to help participants build healthier, more intentional money habits. In partnership with the National Lottery Community Fund, the session combined interactive discussions, expert talks, and reflective exercises to help women identify their financial triggers, set clear goals, and develop confidence in decision-making.

The event recorded 32 registered attendees, with participants reporting increased financial knowledge, self-awareness, and budgeting confidence. Many shared that they left feeling more motivated to take control of their finances and make choices aligned with their personal “why.”

My key takeaway is 1. Self-awareness is the initial step. 2. Budget planning and sticking to it. 3. Always ensure that I have a good reason for purchasing that item — my why.

Financial empowerment isn’t just about numbers — it’s about mindset. Your Money Mindset reminded us that true change starts when we pause, reflect, and make conscious choices about how we use our resources. The stories shared that day prove that with the right guidance and community support, women can rewrite their financial journeys with clarity and confidence
